The United Kingdom is well connected to Munich. Whether you are flying from the England or Scotland – with several nonstop options ranging from big-name carriers such as British Airways at Heathrow to budget fares out of regional airports with Easyjet. But Wales also has relatively good connections via Manchester and Birmingham.

In this article, you will discover all 10 airports in the United Kingdom offering nonstop flights to Munich (MUC), the three operating airlines, frequency, seasonal routes & booking tips for 2026 – all in one list.

Why Fly Nonstop?

You will ask: Munich is roughly 2 hours away of the UK. Is a nonstop flight really necessary? Well, I would always choose a nonstop flight over a flight with one or more stops. A nonstop flight saves you time, and the risk of missing a connection. I remember myself running as fast as I could through Amsterdam Schiphol Airport because of a delayed departure in Edinburgh to get my flight to Munich. Especially the weather conditions sometimes can ruin your connection, especially during stormy, snowy or foggy weather, which is not uncommon in the UK.

As mentioned in my articel about nonstop connections to Munich from US-Airports, Munich Airport is a major hub for Lufthansa, the German flagship carrier and also the Star Alliance, Nonstop routes are therefore mainly operated by Lufthansa. But as Munich is one of the metropoles of Europe, British Airways also offers decent nonstop connections, but with a minor downside which I will explain below.

Lufthansa

Lufthansa is the flagship carrier of Germany with many nonstop connections worldwide. Also the UK is well connected. Since Lufthansa is a member of Star Alliance, but British Airways—the UK’s flagship carrier—belongs to the competing oneworld alliance, there are a few negative effects, though they are barely noticeable. Here are the pro’s and con’s of flying with Lufthansa from and to the UK:

Fun Fact: Every Lufthansa plane gets a German city name - in this case Troisdorf

British Airways

British Airways is often still the go-to option for travelers from the United Kingdom to Germany, mainly because it offers a wide range of domestic connections and its feeder flights are frequently coordinated with one another. Here are the perks flying with British Airways:

Easyjet

EasyJet is player number three on the routes from the United Kingdom to Munich and can sometimes be a good alternative thanks to its lower fares, especially since the flight takes only about 2 hours. Here are the pro’s and con’s of Easyjet:

Map Overview

Map of nonstop flights between the UK and Munich (MUC)

The UK is well connected to Munich. Only exception is Northern Ireland, but there, a connection from Dublin will do the job. And with three airlines to choose from and many airports with daily connection, your trip to Munich feels a bit like taking the bus, because of the good connection of Munich airport with downtown Munich, for example with the Lufthansa Express Bus.

My Tips for Booking Your Nonstop Flight

Here are a few things I would take into consideration when looking for a flight to Munich:

  1. Book early for Oktoberfest. Do you plan on visiting Munich Oktoberfest in late September? Better book your flights early. Prices will definitely rise and also an airplane has a capacity of around 200 persons. Tickets on the desired date may be sold out.
  2. Think about transfer times. Transfer from and to the airport can consume a bit of time. Munich airport to downtown Munich transfer takes about 45 minutes – 1 hour depending on your transport type. If you also have a transfer to e.g. one of the London airports of 1 hour, the all-in-all travel time can be up to 6 hours.
  3. Consider the time of day. Some airports offer decent two-hourly connections. Others only offer flights twice a day. Check the flight time, because a travel fare might be cheaper when flying late, but you actually loose one day of exploring because you usually just go to your hotel, maybe have dinner and then go to sleep.
  4. Think about the time shift. Munich is in the GMT+1 zone. So a flight, starting at 17:00h (5 pm) will arrive in Munich around 20:00h (8 pm) local time, but you only flew 2 hours.
  5. Join a loyalty program. If you fly Lufthansa or British Airways, consider joining Miles & More Programme (Lufthansa) or the British Airways Club (formerly Executive Club). Even if you do not fly often, there are several option to get miles (or avios – how miles are called in the British Airways Club)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Which UK airport has the most nonstop flights to Munich?

Definitely London Heathrow (LHR) with a connection to Munich nearly every two hours.

Are there nonstop flights from Scotland to Munich?

Yes, Lufthansa operates EDI – MUC and GLA – MUC. Additionally easyJet offers flights from EDI to MUC. While Glasgow is connected to Munich only twice a week, Edinburgh, offers daily connections.

When should I book nonstop flights to Munich?

Depending if you like to attend tourist magnets like Oktoberfest or the Christmas Markets.

For Oktoberfest: book as early as you can. Maybe 3-4 months in advance. For Christmas Market Season or the summer season, you will sometimes find flash sales (easyJet) or saver fares (Lufthansa, British Airways) to Munich. If you plan visiting Munich, it can be a good idea to opt in for the newsletters of the airlines to get a notification for flash sales and cheap fares.

Which airline offers the most flights from the UK to Munich?

Lufthansa, with nonstop flights from

  • London Heathrow LHR
  • London Stansted (STN)
  • Birmingham (BHX)
  • Manchester (MAN)
  • Edinburrgh (EDI)
  • Glasgow (GLA)
Which Airline Is Better For Nonstop Flights - British Airways or Lufthansa?

Without wanting to advertise the German airline here, I would actually prefer Lufthansa, since it lands at the so-called “Lufthansa Terminal” (Terminal 2). This terminal is larger, more modern, and less crowded during peak times. It also features the Lufthansa lounges and direct access to the Lufthansa Express Bus. Lufthansa service staff are also available there to help with any issues. In Terminal 1, it’s sometimes hard to find someone on site to help you.

How long is the flight from the UK to Munich?

The flighttime is about two hours.

SOuthend (SEN) airport has the shortest connection with 1:50 hrs, while Glasgow has a flighttime of 2:25 hours.

Have in mind, that Germany is in the GMT+1 zone, so you fly for two hours, but when arriving in Munich, you loose another hour due to the change of the time zone.

Conclusion

Munich has very good connections to UK airports. Especially the Greater London Area is incredibly well connected with sometimes hourly connections during peak times.

British Airways, Lufthansa but also the low-cost carrier easyJet offer a perfect mix of connections and airfares. I would recommend always having an eye on flash sales or cheap airfares.
